PLEASE NOTE on Sunday, Dec, 9, the museum will close early for a private event.
Join us for a guided tour through Hearthstone followed by a chance to explore our educational exhibits. All individual, family, and small group tours (for up to ten individuals) are guided by trained docents who relate the story of our house and its unique place in history, its architecture and decor, and of the families who built Hearthstone and who lived here for over 100 years. These stories vividly illustrate Hearthstone's place in the world as the first residence to be electrified using a central hydroelectric power station, Victorian life, the Gilded Age, and the rise and fall of family fortunes.
Each of our tours includes our special exhibits and educational exhibits dedicated to Edison, his inventive legacy, electricity, and the history of hydroelectricity at Hearthstone.
Tours begin on the hour and last an hour or more depending on the questions asked of the docents. Please arrive a few minutes early to purchase tickets (cash, credit or debit card). Tickets may be purchased in advance by clicking the button below.
Please note: Because of the historic nature of Hearthstone, stairs are the only means of access to the second floor. The first floor and lower level are wheel chair accessible via an electric lift.
