George Schroeder, Hearthstone’s Executive Director, returns to WHBY’s "The Good Neighbor Show" to tell listeners about a new exhibit entitled “Kitty’s Wedding: You’re Invited - The 130th Anniversary of Kitty Rogers’ Wedding.” George talks about how many of today’s wedding traditions have their roots in the Victorian Era and details Kitty’s wedding which was described in the local papers as “the most brilliant of any wedding that has occurred in this city for years.” George also discusses how Kitty’s wedding reception will be re-created at Hearthstone which will be transformed with flowers, decorations, wedding cakes and gifts, just as it was 130 years ago.

Hearthstone Historic House Museum announces that it has received a donation of $100,000 from the David L. and Rita E. Nelson Family Fund within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, Inc. The donation, to be made over a three-year period, is being allocated for the museum’s exterior restoration project.

A seven-page cover article entitled “A Midwest Museum Gem” in the August, 2019 issue of Model Railroader magazine details the 16 years of effort that local modeler Gordon Lund put into the scale model depiction of Appleton’s riverfront, including Hearthstone Historic House, that is currently on display at the History Museum at the Castle in Appleton. The amazing N gauge layout contains over 100 feet of mainline track that perfectly models 3 miles of riverfront. The full-size Hearthstone, along with its diminutive counterpart, and Henry Rogers are mentioned several times in the article.

Hearthstone Historic House Museum announces its “Every Soldier’s Square Project” in conjunction with Sculpture Valley, Inc. and the John H. Bradley VA Clinic in Appleton. The project’s goal is to revitalize the Solider’s Square Civil War monument and raise money for its restoration, as well as for the three sponsoring organizations, through donations coupled to engraving of historic bricks with the names of veterans.

Key to the project is an anonymous donation of $100,000 that will be made once an additional $200,000 is raised.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ending of World War I, Hearthstone Historic House Museum announces it has organized a twitter re-enactment of the events leading-up to Armistice Day featuring local university students playing the roles of historic Appleton figures.  The re-enactment will culminate with the ringing of church bells across downtown Appleton at the time the Armistice took effect at 11 am on November, 11.

Hearthstone Historic House Museum announces the theme for its popular annual Halloween event. This year’s Haunted Hearthstone will be entitled “Sequential Killers: The Victorian Terror.” The theatrical production will take place each Friday night in October.

Friends of Hearthstone, Inc. announces that Hearthstone Historic House Museum is now the Wisconsin affiliate of the STEMIE Coalition.  Through its affiliation with STEMIE, Hearthstone will foster use of the organization’s K-12 “Invention Convention Curriculum presented by Black & Decker” in area schools.  The curricula layer upon basic STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education the ideas of Invention and Entrepreneurship (STEM + I + E) to develop problem-identification, problem-solving, entrepreneurship, creativity, and communication.  Hearthstone's efforts are supported by the Bemis Company Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bemis Company.
